First Haul-Out

Despite some misgivings about the potential size and scope of this "fixer-upper" project, Mike wanted to check out the hull to see if the boat had bigger issues than a rustic interior and deck work. Port Orchard had a had a haul out facility so a friend from Swift Computers, Ron Johnson, helped Mike get the engine running and motored the boat about a mile to the Travel-Lift. 

It was impressive to see the 67' mast off the waterline, racing hull and 8' keel out of the water! After a good pressure washing to knock off the kelp and mussels the good news was that the cold-molded hull was in good shape, the keel and rudder too. High Noon looked like it would be a fast ride, little did we know...

A local sailor stopped by during the haul out to tell us that he to stop in to see the "rocket ship" out of the water! This was the first of many compliments the boat would get from people who had either sailed on High Noon or had raced against High Noon when it was being campaigned in the 1980s.
